Above Ground Liner Replacement

Replacing your liner is a quick and easy way to fix staining, fading, or leaks while renewing the look and feel of your pool. Most liner replacements are complete within 2-5 hours and we take pride in providing installations with minimal wrinkles.

We can order materials such as liners, pads, wall foam, skimmers, and gaskets in advance. Customer is responsible for payment before the order is placed and storage until installation.

Step 1: Procurement of Materials

The first step in replacing any liner is acquiring the liner and accessories. We recommend every installation have a 25-gauge liner and liner pad.

A liner pad helps protect the liner from anything that may come from beneath such as rocks, roots, moles, shrews, and burrowing insects.

Many pool-owners also choose to invest in wall-foam. Foam can help protect the liner from punctures inside of the pool and between the wall.

Step 2: Draining the Pool

The pool needs to be completely drained before the liner can be replaced. Any water that's inside the pool when the liner is removed will make the sand beneath wet and difficult to work with.

A submersible pump is ideal for this and should drain most pools within a day.

We can provide one of these pumps for a small fee.

Step 3: Removing the Liner

Once the pool is drained the liner can be cut and removed. After most of the liner is out we begin disassembling the pool and removing the rest.

After the liner is fully removed we sand and smooth any rust along the wall.

The sand is then raked for impurities, smoothed to an even surface, and tamped to make the sand firm and compact.

Step 4: Installing Accessories

(where applicable)

After the sand has been tamped we begin laying out the liner pad. Once the pad is smooth of wrinkles the foam adhesive can be applied.

As the adhesive is applied the foam is unfurled simultaneously until the wall is completely covered.

Step 5: Installing the Liner

The liner can now be hung from the wall. Once hung we make sure the layout is even and set up a shop-vacuum to remove air between the liner and wall.

The suction pulls the liner to the wall and we begin removing wrinkles starting from the center and moving outward.

Step 6: Rebuilding and Filling

With the shop-vac still running we put the top rails back together and start filling the pool with water.

When there is about an inch of water we install the skimmer and return for the equipment. After the equipment is hooked up our work is complete and the pool is left to fill.

Once the pool is filled you may setup the ladder and we recommend chemically balancing the water
